I like to use cigar ashes for a good patina and then shoot it with birdshot for that wormhole effect topped off with a good Danish massage.

Nothing like a piece of wood to make a man or woman feel good, to work and rework it into some gleaming, finished

product that can be useful or just decorative. I have carved relief artwork into a piece of mallable wood, with chisels and a hammer, and then sanded and polished it to a marvelous wall hanging or outdoor sign and there is nothing quire so beautiful. Great hub. ~~~MFB III

We have an old dining room set that once belonged to my grandparents. The top could use some refinishing and I haven't decided if I want to do that job or hire it done. Certainly wouldn't do it in this current heat wave! Maybe next winter?

Peggy it is a rewarding task to refinish your the floors yourself - a messy one though! One advantage of this recession is you can get it done a lot cheaper if you choose to do that.

Still debating. I'm not as young as I used to be when I refinished that bedroom set. (That is an understatement!) Ha!
