58NFL Hip Flasks - Football Fans Cheer Their Team
Super Bowl 2011 saw the Green Bay Packers win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Looking for a football gift? Hip flasks and the NFL seem like a natural fit for many NFL fans. Football fans are either celebrating or drowning their sorrows. Hip flasks have been around since the middle ages. There have had two bursts of popularity in the 20th century. The first was the roaring twenties and prohibition. The second was the popularity of the NFL since the 1960s. It seems drinking and football is part of Americana. This helps explain why NFL hip flasks are one of the top gifts for men and sports fans in 2011.
Hip flasks are a great statement for branding and loyalty for football fans. Whether you are out hunting, tailgating or some other outdoor activity an NFL hip flask can take the edge off a wintry day. Hip flasks are used to let you carry your liquor in concealed places or to carry your favorite celebratory liquor in smaller amounts.
While some NFL fans are known to be more rabid than others, a love of the occasion is a common thread. So who are the best fans of the NFL of the 32 NFL teams. ESPN back in 2008 conducted a scientific experiment for the best fans in the NFL. The result was a tie between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. Though tell this to an Eagles, Giants or Cowboys fan. Whatever your favorite team there is an NFL hip flask for you. Whether you are drowning your sorrows like dismayed Cowboy fans or celebrating with the overachieving Eagles fans there is a hip flask for all NFL fans in 2011.

Ranking NFL's Best Fans
The question of best football fans is as subjective as one gets. Firstly you have a biased towards your own team, demographic or favorite colors. On the flipside a Washington fan is going to hate a Dallas fan and vice versa. So how do you get realistic assessment. Things like merchandise sales are weighted towards a teams success and weather for example.
In my research I came across a study by ESPN in 2008 that makes a lot of sense. The ESPN NFL Divsion bloggers got together and ranked the following
- Stadium Factor - Intimidating, loud etc
- Live and Die Factor - How hard do fans take defeat
- Traveling Road Show Factor - Do the fans travel to away matches?
- Loyalty When Team Sucks - Fair weather fans or through thick and thin?
- Hate Factor - How much do other teams fans hate you - Check out a Dalls Eagles game for a litmus test of hate
- Tailgate Factor - How vibrant and original are the pre game tailgates?
- Home Fans' Creativity - How out there are the fans?
NFL Best Fans
From all that subjective ranking ESPN came up with the top ten list of best fans. Before you through a fit grab your NFL hip flask and chill. Where does your team fit in? If not why not? I would love to hear your comments on the rankings. Especially any great tailgate and home team creativity stories.

We were born in Wisconsin so naturally the Packers always got more than a nod and since moving to Texas the Cowboys were also a team that became a favorite of my parents. I notice they did not make the 10. Amazing! My husband favors the Cowboys and also roots for our local team The Texans.
Cool hub. You have a lot to say for a hub about NFL flasks.
For the Texans...we can hope! I think that anyone coming from Wisconsin always has a certain fondness for the Green Bay Packers. It is almost a religion up there! :-)
Heard so much about the beautiful state of Wisconsin. Great Hub. GBY.
Great job, BillyA. I love the fan info. Colts in 2012!

Raiders didn't make the ranking? Very thorough research, billyaustindillon. I especially liked the fan rankings. I wonder if there is a correlation between number of losses and number of flasks sold!
