Barnes & Noble Nook eReader with 3G - Nook Color Wi-Fi Internet
Barnes & Noble New Nook Wi-Fi eReader and Nook Color
Barnes & Noble Introduced the tablet like Nook color with an Android-based OS back in October. Nook color competes with the iPad and Galaxy Tab. This followed a new Nook Wi-Fi eReader in June and the Nook 3G Price cut. The Nook Color is in Wi-Fi with no 3G. The Nook Color strengths are for reading magazines and Chidren's books. There will be a Nook Color app store in 2011. There is also a Pandora app for music fans.
The 'Nook' is Barnes & Nobles’ electronic book reader and the Nook . Barnes & Noble launched the Nook back in October 2009. The electronic-books industry has shown amazing competition with Apple’s iPad selling over 4 million copies. Amazon.com Inc's Kindle is Nook’s other major competitor.
Barnes & Noble generates the most sales of any other specialty bookseller in the U.S. They are America’s largest bookstore chain. The iPad ibookstore has been a resounding success with Apple’s iBooks and the success of comics on iPad. Borders Group Inc is also about to enter the market with it’s own Borders e-bookstore. Barnes & Noble hopes to leverage its bookstore penetration into New Nook WiFi and Nook 3G sales. The New New Nook in color is one of the favorite gifts for Christmas this year.
Barnes & Noble Nook WiFi and 3G Features
The Nook e-reader enjoyed strong demand with its first version last year. It is important to remember the Nook WiFi does not have cellular- network connectivity like Nook 3G.
Barnes & Noble describes the NOOK as the ‘most full-featured e-Book Reader on the market’. NOOK has a color touch screen and a ‘best-in-class E Ink display’.
The new Nook WiFi has just gone on sale online at www.nook.com or www,bestbuy.com. It will begin shipping this week. You will be able to purchase the nook WiFi and NOOK 3G at Barnes & Noble and Best Buy stores later this month.

Barnes & Noble said the new Nook software version includes free use of AT & T’s WiFi network throughout America. With all the iPad hype it will be interesting to watch Nook sales. Barnes & Noble’s new Nook Wi-Fi and Nook 3G Price cut are squarely aimed at the market of electronic readers of people not wanting the complete iPad tablet. It will be interesting to see how big that market is.
The first salvo had been fired, Amazon announced 27% price drop today to $189 for it's Kindle ebook reader.
Comments on Barnes & Noble New Nook WiFi, Nook 3G Price Cut
t.elia they do look pretty cool and seems to be a bit of a price war developing too.
Hi Billy,
I assume if an Author has an E Book format we have to register with everybody separately, IE Amazon and Barnes and Noble to be sure all bases are covered is this true ?
Merlin I don't believe so it is to do with format and the publisher. A great question I will do a little research for you. Basically Barnes and Noble are the biggest seller and Amazon the biggest online though.
I think it would be popular soon, one of my daughter's co-worker who was in US recently, brought one for herself.I am interested to know more about it.Thank you for sharing.
I want one of these!
Suny - they do seem pretty popular - it is a big battle now with iPad, Kindle and Nook - I might write a hub about that actually. Good for the consumer too with prices wars afoot. Let us know what your daughter's friend thinks.
Sandy I can see myself with one of these down at the Barnes & Noble Coffee shop :)
Oh that's so cool, I love this idea, the nook WIFI would be a great gift idea for me billy, hint hint :)
That sounds very cool. I think I would love one. Interesting hub.
Very informative just on time. My book will be in kindle edition but I am not familiar with the stores and so on. After reading this hub I got the picture.
Thank you for sharing.
That's great, billyaustin. I still remember in graduate school when aol first introduced the Internet unlimited deal for $20 per month, and changed the face of the Internet forever. Great news. (: v
Great gift idea! My wife is an avid reader!
I think the Nook has a slight advantage in coming out before the iPad, but it's going to face stiff competition as the price gap closes and more apps geared towards iPad become available.
Funny how Tablet PC's never generated this much buzz - probably because their price point just never came down to one that folks saw themselves buying one that lacked the capabilities of a full notebook.
Asking folks to pay more for less is fine for luxury shoppers, but it's a tough sell to electronic consumers who tend to want to get "good deals."
Very informative. My wife who spends alot of time at Barnes and Noble will happy to hear what you had to report. Thanks
Katie I noted it down for ya :)
Pamela they do look cool - what is funny is I was unaware of them until a few days ago. They do sound addictive.
TKumah congrats on your book being in Kindle and thanks for your comments.
Valerie yes the fact time getting on the internet was amazing - now we just take it all for granted. No doubt in a few years things like e-readers will be taken for granted to. How fast it is all changing.
Thanks Nifty@50 - sounds like the Nook is tailor made for your wife.
