Opera Software claims its Opera Web browser 10.50 is ‘the fastest browser on earth’. Reviews show the Opera web browser for iPhone sees faster downloads, cuts data traffic dramatically. Opera Software said its Opera Internet browser for Apple's iPhone was downloaded over 2.6 million times in April. April was the first month you were able to download the Opera browser to iPhone.
Apple gave access to Opera as the first rival browser to iPhone. Opera began as a research project for Telenor, Norway’s largest telecom company in 1994. Apple Accepts Opera Web Browser
Apple accepted distribution of Opera's browser for its iPhone on April 13 of this year. The decision by Apple was after a long review. Given iPhone’s massive appeal a very potentially lucrative market has opened up for Opera Software.
Opera co-founder Jon von Tetzchner told Reuters in an interview. 'We are also seeing very nice usage.'' and ‘a very significant part of iPhone users has at least tried it.'
Apple no doubt in their decision was concerned by the growing popularity of Google’s Android phone which overtook Apple recently as the number two Smartphone in America. Blackberry remains number one.
Opera's web browser bills itself as the faster browser on earth. Opera promises up to six times faster download speeds than Apple's own browser. Apple continues to attack Adobe’s Flash overt its data usage. Opera promises to cut data traffic by up to 90 percent. This seems to be the telling blow for Opera acceptance by Apple. Many operators' networks have had problems from iPhones heavy data usage.

Opera Browser Dominance
Opera mobile browser users totaled 58.9 million at the end of April. This is up 6.6 percent in a month. According to Opera’s monthly mobile Internet report. In May the domination continues according to Web analytics firm StatCounter. Opera controls 26.7 percent of the market in May so far says StatCounter. The iPhone browser has 20.1 percent of the market and the Nokia browser is third with 14.6 percent of the market respectively. I am somewhat overwhelmed by the pace of technology and so far only keep a throwaway cell phone for emergencies. Even my grand children arre ahead of me. Eventually I'll have to look into some of these things.
