People tend to get wound up by stress. They become more irrational, but stress is something individuals can control. Be Personally Responsible for your Work Stress

Grade the time you are at work, could you be managing your time better? Ask yourself are you truly efficient or just idling through the day on the net, doodling or gossiping? Perhaps you are simply accepting more work that you can’t do because you can’t say no.

Next you have to stop accepting what is demanded of you if it unreasonable. Make it clear that you are saying no to the extra work, you are already working your hours. Now this doesn’t mean you are childish or abusive in your approach and not open to overtime on certain occasions. What you are doing is taking responsibility.

Personal responsibility stress relief management involves looking inwards and outwards. With work it is too easy to apportion blame.

The Blame Game - it is not my fault!

  • It is my bosses fault
  • It is my workmates fault
  • It is my companies fault
  • It is the economies fault
  • It is their fault (insert your favorite conspiracy here!)

How does that help you? Taking responsibility of what causes the stress rather than blandly apportioning blame does not solve what is causing the stress.

Personal responsibility stress relief management also means.

  1. Solving the problem with a solution. There is an art to problem solving, not a science.
  2. Coping if you can't solve the problem. Acknowledge problem solving is not working.
  3. In some instances taking personal responsibility means resigning with good grace. This technique not only reduces stress but enables you to use the situation to your benefit. You can enhance your reputation.

Visit these techniques and you find a great relief from what is stressing you. Personal responsibility stress relief management IS ABOUT YOU!

Life and stress have a natural flow

Remember all these facets of our life have a natural flow. Relationships, health, work and exercise all are interdependent. We looked at work first, not because it is the most important but because in our minds it seems that way from the way society has many of us programmed. We are working backwards so to speak.

Health is everything; stressed people tend to let their health slide. Have you let yourself slide? Firstly you need a balanced diet, throughout the day with no skipped meals. You need to cut back on foods and substances that are stress enhancers. This includes too much coffee or sugar. Also in your diet avoid high fat, high starch, and high sugar foods. Smoking and drugs really enhance stress so cut them out if you can.

With recognition and changing our health we are getting there. The hard part for many of us is adding exercise to our lives. Appraise what you do physically, some people are shocked how little they do and have just put it out of their minds. It is never too late to start. Begin with a gentle walk, this is also a great time to download and process when you are thinking calmly. Doing laps in the pool is another excellent low stress physical exercise.

Finally give your mind a rest. Be patient, but don’t procrastinate, some changes may need to be gradual initially as you change your mind set. Much stress is self inflicted; if you go on about all your stress it will become stressful. Focus on the good things in your life now, more time efficient, you have control. You are energized from eating well and exercising. Stress can emanate from your mind, while this isn’t always true changing the focus from negative to positive will help relieve your stress. Once the natural flow flows freely and positively stress will seem like a thing of the past.
