Windows Mobile Cell Phones VOIP Business Phone System

By

Windows Phone 7 Series

Windows cell phones evolution from Windows Mobile to Windows Phone 7 Series (WP7) replacing Windows Mobile 6.5 is near. When you choose a VOIP business phone system it is also important to tie in with your cell phone network. Mobile devices are the new PCs. Windows Phone Series 7 is the latest Windows Smartphone software. Windows software for Windows Mobile is totally revamped with Windows Phone 7 Series. The look and feel is more in line with Zune HD than of Windows Mobile 6.5. The WP7 interface is catered towards touch input with a series of paneled hubs. Testers are glowing about the Microsoft Phone software's touch responsiveness and transmission speed.

What is clear WP7 needs to inspire given the rock star success of iOS 4. The unreleased software for the new windows cell phones is deep integration with both Xbox and Zune. This gives a sense of depth and detail with the intent of not taking away from the Microsoft content.  This feature will add to the PC like experience of a VOIP business phone system. Windows phone system also has a completely new app marketplace store, an attempt to catch up to the iPhone. Software for Windows Mobile has over 20,000 apps. The number of apps for the new Windows cell phones should be significantly higher. Apple’s iOS 4.01 has over 220,000 apps now.

Software for Windows cell phones does support Flash whereas iPhone still does not. Android OS is expected to support Flash within six months similar to the Palm webOS and BlackBerry OS 5. The overall navigation of the UI has been reported as intuitive, impressive given the in-app menus and options.  So far the two things missing from the Windows phone are it doesn’t support copy and paste and doesn’t support third-party apps multitasking.

Applocked and Simlocked

The latest software for Windows Mobile is Windows Phone 7 Series it will become available around October 2010 with upgrades available by sync and patcher. It is likely to include Windows Mobile 6.5 features that do support Jail breaking and rooting but it is called flashing. Flashing functions the same but through different means. On Windows Smartphone Software <6.5.x, you can copy any .CAB file to the device and install it easily. On webOS it is also as easy but .ipk installs need some help.

The latest software for Windows Mobile Windows Phone 7 Series is based on WinCE 6 and has multitasking. WM can be applocked and simlocked. Software for Windows Mobile latest has multitouch interface and will support multitasking. WP7 will have syncing software supported by media. Software for Windows Mobile side loading is undetermined but Windows Mobile 6.5 does have side loading.

Navigating the Windows Phone Series 7

The new windows cell phone operating system has three main areas.

  1. The homepage "tiles". This is basically your favorite apps, easily viewed information, updates and favorite people.
  2. The application list. This is an alphabetical list of all your apps.
  3. The "hub" pages. This seems to float between an intensive app and a menu.

You navigate many of the options and in-app menus through a long press. This feature has received good reports and apparently alleviates panic searching for tiles.

A feature that betters the iPhone is the drop down window shade to show when you've got a new SMS or text message. This is similar to the Android functionality.

The new Windows Phone 7 has been touted ad the most unique UI in the current Smartphone war. However of concern, and perhaps at launch date it is fixed, is the no third party app and multitasking. The no copy and paste makes no sense given it one of the most easily used features of Word. Now IPhone 4 has multitasking this seems rather inane doesn’t it?

Windows Mobile Features

The browser default will be Internet Explorer but other browsers Firefox, Skyfire, Opera, Trident and Chrome can all be utilized for Windows Mobile 6.5 with WebKit. Software for Windows Mobile supports multiple handset manufacturers. Software for Windows Mobile does allow video recording also.

Check out the approximately 20,000 apps for software for windows mobile (the same amount as the Android OS). With the heavy concentration on the Zune Marketplace this will likely soar. This compares to the 1400 apps for Palm webOS and 3000 apps for BlackBerry OS 5. Though not quite the over 150,000 iPhone OS 3.x has it is a start. Android OS also allows open source and free also.

Tips

  • Stay up to date with Windows Smartphone Software upgrades
  • Check the latest apps at the Windows Mobile Marketplace
  • Software for Windows Mobile has no open source or is free
  • Windows Phone 7 Series is a total revamp for Microsoft and will be not available until the holiday season of 2010.
