Apple has launched the new iPad and of course the big questions are evolve around the apps. After all the apps is what stands the iPhone out over other mobile phones. We know there are glaring inefficiencies with the iPhone and therefore with the iPad too but it is the apps “that maketh the experience”. Apple promised and delivered twelve new purpose built applications with the iPad. There is no mention of the iLife suite application yet.
We are told it can download and run all the apps that iPhone uses but with a much richer experience. It does this by pixel doubling. Effectively it stretches the iPhone’s apps to fit the iPad's screen. What excites the Mac fans is the wide range of new apps to be built specifically for the iPad.

The first app to discover for many will be iBooks, which revolutionizes the e-reader market, which allows for interaction, higher detail and vibrant color. Indeed it looks like you are reading a paper page.
The next app to spend time is iWork. At the iPad launch Apple V.P. Phil Schiller raved, "It's the most beautiful word processor you've ever used." He demonstrated the functions of the productivity suite that is iWork, it’s editing program and a spreadsheet app. Each iWork app will sell for $9.99.

Gaming is where iPad is where Apple has spent a lot of its energies. Next step is check out the gaming capabilities and apps. Developers are excited, Alexandra Peters of Firemint behind the iPhone game ‘Flight control’ waxed lyrical,
“It also means there is more room for user interface elements so games can be more accessible”. She also said A larger screen means that games can be more immersive, as well as allowing for higher detail and bigger animation.” So there you have a clear clue to what type of apps to look for.

That is very true Maggie May you can certainly get by with a decent PC and basic mobile - indeed what is basic these days was the latest a few years ago. The iPad seems great for ebooks, mags, comics and the like given it's color and screen but do you need it? Keep up your good writing and people will get to see for themselves :)
